Hybrid

It rules the world

The high-powered intelligent hybrid.

When the snow is piling up to mountainous proportions, you’ll be glad to have the world’s best snowthrower. With its unique features and efficient performance, it’ll shift tons of snow in minutes.

It thinks for itself

The incredible Honda Hybrid has a very special 4-stroke engine: it has a ‘brain’.

The ‘mind’ of the machine – the Engine Control Unit (ECU) – will diagnose faults and monitor the engine’s performance. When the auger moves into deeper snow, a sensor tells the engine to increase its speed and produce more snow eating energy. This propels the snow up the chute and well out of the way. Known for their easy starts, low emissions and excellent fuel economy, the robust and intelligent iGX engine has proven over time to be the best performer in temperatures as low as minus 32˚C. So wrap up warm.

Charging on

All you have to do is point it in the right direction and it knows exactly what to do. It monitors the battery charge as it goes along so that the two electric motors can maintain constant power delivery to the tracks.

Clever controls

The Hybrid lets you know exactly what it’s ‘thinking’ right here.

Your turn

For a big machine it feels so light and easy to steer.

Illustration of Hybrid steering ability.

Above: steering the Hybrid through different turning circles A, B and C is completely at your command – using the levers on the handlebars – right down to a complete about-turn.

The tracks provide good stability and always feel safe on slopes of slippery snow. They're independently controlled by two battery-powered electric motors. These are controlled separately via a lever on each handgrip.

Get a grip

You get a smooth feel through these levers. They operate Honda’s unique drive clutch so you can control the amount of turn just by gripping or releasing the levers – it’s that easy.

You can take the Hybrid on a wide line to clear large areas, or right down to a ‘zero turn’ in a confined space. The sure-grip rubber tracks will do all the work for you.

The right and left hand levers provide precise steering control by regulating the speed of the two electric drive motors.

The front line

This is where the war against snow is won.

The wide mouth and efficient set of snow-crunching teeth of the auger give you the best snow clearing performance in the world. Unique to the Hybrid is the rolling function of the auger. It’s fully adjustable in either direction so you can clear a flat path across sloping ground.

Raising the auger housing will make light work of heavy snow, and easier clearing over uneven ground. Now here’s the clever part: when you engage reverse the auger will rise automatically, preventing damage. Then, remembering the height it was working at, it will return to that position when you move forwards again.

Unique auger clutch

You don’t always need the auger rotating. A simple switch allows you to engage and disengage it.

(Top) The angle of the auger can be adjusted separately, while the height (middle) can be positioning easily – up or down. (Above) The joystick allows you to adjust the height and the angle from the driving position.

Resetting the auger

With just one touch (handy if you’ve got cold hands) you can reset the auger height to the original, flat starting position. This innovation will eliminate the frustrations of having to stop and restart the machine to make adjustments.

Chute for the moon

The electronically controlled chute is really handy.

At sub-zero temperatures you’re going to be pretty well protected with a thick, warm pair of gloves. The chute control is made with this in mind, so you still get precise control and a spot-on aim every time.

Throw it where you want it

Up, down, side to side – the joystick gives you precise control, so you can easily aim the ejected snow to different areas as you move along. You can also adjust the tip of the chute for greater height and pinpoint accuracy. It's called Twin Chute Technolgy and you’ll hit the target time after time.

Winter heating

A very efficient system to keep fuel bills low.

Heat from the engine's exhaust is circulated around the carburettor to stop it from freezing.

This economical Honda engine keeps its carburettor warm by circulating the heat from the engine’s exhaust system. This gives you super-reliable performance with smoother running and most importantly of all, it stops the carburettors from freezing. We’ve also added a fuel gauge on top of the fuel tank so you can see when you’re running low.

Electric start

Honda’s intelligent iGX 4-stroke, commercial-grade engine is specifically designed to start in sub-zero temperatures as low as minus 32ºC. Well known for their reliability, they will never let you down.

Auto choke

For perfect start-up and engine warming from freezing cold, the choke is automatic, similar to that of a car. Just hit the button and it’s instantly alive, providing power from the coldest of starts.

Honda tough

The commercial grade, iGX 4-stroke engine is bulletproof. Proven to be the best Honda engine for this type of use. The cylinder sleeves are cast iron for durability and the crank has roller bearings for longer life and smoother running.

Lower and lower

It’s a small engine with a big heart and with a noise level 30% lower than conventional snowthrowers – it's most considerate to those around it. This engine sets the bar high for low-noise in 4-stroke technology.
